This section will be used to
highlight individual world-class sprinters
Usain Bolt - 22-year old Jamaican
sensation who currently holds the world record at 100 meters
(9.58) and 200 meters (19.19). He also assisted the
Jamaican 4x100 meter relay team to a gold medal and world
record in the 2008 Olympics. He won first place in the
2009 World Championships at 100 meters, 200 meters and
participated in the winning Jamaican 4x100 relay. Bolt
was once a 400 meter runner and is better known for his
performance at the 200 meter race so he is still a
relatively new entrant to the 100 meter competition.
Expect to see more records from this amazing 6 foot 5 inch
athlete only now 23 years old - perhaps in the long
jump.
Asafa Powell - Jamaican sprinter who held
the 100 meter world record for nearly three years between 2005
and mid-2008 with times of 9.77 and 9.74 seconds.
His personal bests are 9.72 seconds at 100 meters and
19.90 seconds at 200 meters. Powell anchored the
Jamaican 4x100 relay to an Olympic gold and world record
(37.10) at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Walter Dix -Floridian who graduated high
school in 2004 has many years ahead of him; personal bests of
9.91 100 meters and 19.69 200 meters; 2008 bronze medalist at
100 meters and 200 meters; US 2008 Olympic trial champ at 200
meters and 2nd at 100 meters
Tyson Gay -Kentucy native with personal
bests at 100 meters of 9.77 and 19.62 for 200 meters; 2007
World Outdoor 100 meter, 200 meter and 4x100 meter champion; US
100 meter champion 2006, 2007, 2008 US Olympic trial 100 meter
champ
Shawn Crawford - South Carolina
native with personal bests of 9.88 at 100 meters and 19.79
at 200 meters; 2004 Olympic gold at 200 meters; 2008 Olympic

Terrance Trammell - Georgia native
